First Aid Training

Trained first aiders in your workplace could be the difference between life and death. As well as acquiring the confidence and knowledge for life saving emergencies you will also learn to prevent minor problems or injuries from becoming major ones

Depending on the hazards and number of employees in the workplace your first aiders will need to be trained in either First aid at work or Emergency first aid at work 

First aid at work – 3 day course  our most comprehensive course, suitable for all workplaces

Emergency first aid at work - 1-day course for smaller low-risk workplaces

The HSE strongly recommends that your first aiders complete an annual refresher course to keep their skills fresh. 

Assessment method: Continuous Assessment by the trainer.

Upon successful completion, the certification is valid for three years 

First Aid at Work

Suitable for people 18 years and over, this course is designed for anyone wanting to become an accredited first aider or appointed person. Particularly appropriate to companies where HSE guidelines recommend a trained first aider qualified in first aid at work.

Course content includes The role of the first aider:  Contents of first aid kits (avoiding cross infection), Recording of incidents and accidents, Assessing the situation in an emergency, Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizures), requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), has minor conditions - to include: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters.  Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles, joints including suspected spinal injury, sudden poisoning, burns and scalds, eye injuries, anaphylactic shock and use of auto-injectors.  


Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack and use of aspirin, stroke, epilepsy, asthma & diabetes

Emergency First Aid at Work

Designed for nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone requiring a comprehensive one day first aid course. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. 


The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate's confidence. The Emergency First Aid at Work course replaced the First Aid Appointed Person course in October 2009. 

Course Content includes  Health and safety (first aid) regulations, Managing an incident, the priorities of first aid, treatment of an unconscious casualty, unconsciousness, resuscitation, shock, bleeding, common workplace injuries


Note: This option is also available as a Driver CPC course and will fulfil 7 hours of your periodic training towards your DQC
